Electrical design and engineering studies

Design comes before execution: careful planning and drawing that follows technical standards, safely and efficiently.

Electrical design

Tramo specializes in electrical design across many areas, always following current standards and symbology, with detailed drawings, specifications and bills of materials.

  • 13.8 kV and 69 kV substations
  • Industrial and commercial electrical installations
  • NR-10 and NR-12 compliance
  • Lightning protection systems
  • Fire detection, alarm and suppression
  • Explosion-proof installations (hazardous areas)
  • Low and medium voltage switchgear
  • Electric vehicle charging

Protection and selectivity study

The study determines which protection devices to install by calculating the voltage, current and short-circuit withstand levels at each busbar. It also analyzes coordination and selectivity to keep installations safe and prevent faults at the consumer from affecting the utility grid.

Arc flash (ATPV) study

The ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value) study determines the incident energy at each piece of equipment: the thermal energy reaching a surface at a given distance during an arc flash. It is essential for choosing the right protection for anyone working near energized circuits.

Other studies and reports

Studies that keep electrical systems safe and reliable, reducing the risk of failures and protecting people and assets.

  • Power quality analysis

Measurement and diagnosis of harmonics, voltage variations and imbalances that affect equipment and the energy bill.

  • Power factor correction

Study and sizing of automatic or manual capacitor banks to avoid reactive power penalties.

  • Technical and compliance reports

Reports and compliance studies for NR-10, NR-12 and lightning protection standards, for inspections, insurance and audits.

  • Hazardous area classification

Definition of explosive atmosphere zones and specification of explosion-proof equipment and installations.
